WHO WE ARE
We are a cooperative of 10,122 small holder expert coffee farmers. We live and farm on the misty ridges and in the lush upland valleys of Africa's largest, extinct volcano: the majestic Mt. Elgon in Eastern Uganda.
We will strive to bring benefits to our communities by working together across the supply chain and by producing the best cup quality
Through each primary society committee's decision; solar power distribution, scholarstic materials, construction of stores and pit laterines, farm tools and coffee seedlings have be acquired through social premium funds
CLIMATE - RESILIENT COFFEE
We are committed to producing the best quality coffee in a sustainable way. Weather patterns are changing and becoming more extreme on Mt. elgon. We are adapting by planting trees to help to protect against landslides and participating in workshops to improve our farming methods. We are expanging our vibrant community coffee nurseries to renovate our coffee with coffee seedlings and shade trees.
WOMEN'S COFFEE: Quality, Equality, Commitment
Our women's coffee project is enabling us to achieve greater equality in our relationships and helping us to shape our futures. Many of us now have a proportion of the family land in our right for the first time and we are also members of Gumutindo. With our own land and finances we can make plans: for improving our coffee quality, our families' prospeccts and our homes.
